Best Minecraft 26.3 Mods: The Tier List
Every Minecraft 26.3 mod I tested, ranked (tier list)
27 Fabric mods for Minecraft 26.3, all tested in real gameplay in the same world on the same PC, ranked from C tier to S tier. What each one does, who it's for, and the five I install in every world.

I tested 27 mods on Minecraft 26.3 this month, all in real gameplay, in the same world, on the same PC. Here they are, ranked from number 27 up to number 1.
S tier: I install it in every world. A tier: great for almost everyone. B tier: it depends on how you play. C tier: skip it, unless you have a reason.
S tier
#1 Sodium
Sodium rebuilds how Minecraft draws the world and turns on every optimization your PC supports, without changing the look of the game. It also fixes old visual flaws like hard steps in biome colors, and since version 0.9 there’s an experimental Vulkan option. It’s the first mod I install, every single time. Sodium guide
#2 Distant Horizons
Distant Horizons draws simplified terrain far beyond your normal view distance, by default up to 256 chunks, about 4,000 blocks. On my PC it still ran at 110 to 120 FPS. In multiplayer it saves the terrain you’ve seen, and if the server has it too, the server sends you the distant terrain. Distant Horizons guide
#3 Iris Shaders
Iris loads shader packs on top of Sodium and runs almost every OptiFine shader pack; K turns shaders on and off. With Complementary Unbound and Distant Horizons I got around 56 FPS, worth it for a view like this. Iris guide
#4 Xaero’s Minimap
A minimap in the vanilla style, a radar for mobs and players, and waypoints (B). Underground it switches to cave mode by itself, and when you die it marks the spot automatically. Xaero’s Minimap guide
#5 Jade
Look at anything and a small panel tells you what it is and which mod added it: crop growth, horse stats, the right tool, even when a chicken lays its next egg. It works on your own game, no server needed. Jade guide
A tier
#6 Entity Culling
Skips drawing mobs and block entities you can’t actually see. With 1,024 villagers hidden inside a mountain, vanilla dropped to 48 FPS and Entity Culling held 120, the limit of our graphics driver at the time. The gain depends on how much is hidden, so it just misses S tier. Entity Culling guide
#7 Lithium
Sodium makes Minecraft draw faster, Lithium makes it think faster: physics, mob AI, block ticks. It keeps every vanilla mechanic exactly the same, so it’s even allowed in speedruns, and one side is enough. In my test pen with 512 villagers and 256 cows, the vanilla /tick query showed 55.9 ms per tick (the game couldn’t keep up with 20 ticks per second); with Lithium it was 30.8 ms. Lithium guide
#8 Xaero’s World Map
Press M for a full-screen map of everything you’ve explored, drawn as you play. With cheats on you can right-click the map to teleport, and with Xaero’s Minimap your waypoints show up on both. Xaero’s World Map guide
#9 AppleSkin
Shows how much hunger and saturation every food restores, in the tooltip and on your hunger bar. Steak gives more than twice the saturation of bread (12.8 against 6). AppleSkin guide
#10 Shulker Box Tooltip
Vanilla only lists the first five items of a shulker box. This shows the whole box as a grid: Shift for a compact preview, Alt and Shift for the full one. Download on Modrinth
#11 LambDynamicLights
Hold a torch and the world around you lights up. Dropped torches glow, burning mobs light their path, and creepers get brighter right before they explode. LambDynamicLights guide
#12 Continuity
Connected textures: glass walls become one clean pane, bookshelves one long shelf, sandstone loses its stripes. Turn on its two built-in resource packs, or nothing changes. Continuity guide
#13 Zoomify
Hold C to zoom smoothly and scroll to zoom further; F6 toggles a second zoom. Better than the spyglass for scouting and screenshots, and client-side only. Zoomify guide
B tier
#14 Waystones
Activate waystones and teleport between them for a bit of experience. Perfect on a server, almost too easy in a survival world of your own. Waystones guide
#15 VeinMiner
Mine one ore and the whole vein comes with it, up to 100 blocks at once. Satisfying, but it changes survival balance a lot: /veinminer settings mustSneak true limits it to sneaking. VeinMiner guide
#16 Enchantment Descriptions
Every enchanted book tells you what the enchantment actually does. Amazing when you’re new. Download on Modrinth
#17 Mielon’s The Sift
A fan-made take on the new dimension Mojang announced for 2027, playable now. Big, strange and fun, but a fan interpretation, not the real update. The Sift guide
#18 3D Skin Layers
The outer layer of your skin becomes real 3D; from 12 blocks away it switches back to flat. 3D Skin Layers guide
#19 Not Enough Animations
In third person you finally see yourself eat, drink and hold maps with both hands. Well made, if you play in third person. Not Enough Animations guide
#20 Carry On
Shift and right-click with empty hands to pick up chests (with everything inside), furnaces and small mobs. The server needs it too. Download on Modrinth
#21 The Shooting Star
A demo with four weapons from space, each with its own cinematic. The remote needs six blocks of netherite. The Shooting Star guide
#22 Particle Rain
Rain falls at an angle in the wind, with mist rolling in. Purely visual, perfect for cozy rainy builds. Download on Modrinth
#23 BetterF3
The debug screen, but readable, with colors and modules you choose. Great if you live in F3. Download on Modrinth
#24 Physics Mod
Mobs fall over as ragdolls and blocks break into real pieces. A blast to watch, but purely visual and client-side. Download on Modrinth
C tier
#25 Chat Heads
Every chat message gets the player’s head next to it. Nice on a busy server, nothing in singleplayer. Download on Modrinth
#26 Dynamic Crosshair
Hides or changes your crosshair depending on what you hold and aim at. So subtle you won’t notice it. Download on Modrinth
#27 Falling Leaves
Leaves drift down from every tree. Since 1.21.5, vanilla Minecraft drops falling leaf particles by itself, so the mod adds very little. Download on Modrinth
How to install them
- Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.3 (or let Prism, the Modrinth App or the CurseForge app do it).
- Add Fabric API for 26.3: most of these mods need it.
- Download each mod for 26.3 from its official page above and put the files into your
modsfolder. Check each mod page for extra requirements (Iris needs Sodium, Zoomify needs Fabric Language Kotlin and YACL, Waystones needs Balm and Shogi).

FAQ
How did you test the mods?
Every mod ran in Minecraft 26.3 on Fabric, in a copy of my world Valley of Mods, on the same PC, with the 26.3 release of each mod available in October 2026 and its default settings. Comparisons with vanilla use the same camera path once without and once with the mod.
What does each tier mean?
S tier: I install it in every world. A tier: great for almost everyone. B tier: it depends on how you play. C tier: skip it, unless you have a reason.
Which mods do I need on a server?
Carry On and Waystones have to be on the server and on every client. VeinMiner works server-side (in singleplayer your own game is the server). Lithium works on either side. Most of the others are client-side.
Can I run all S tier mods together?
Yes. Sodium, Distant Horizons, Iris Shaders, Xaero’s Minimap and Jade all have Fabric releases for 26.3. Iris needs Sodium, Xaero’s Minimap and Jade need Fabric API.
How much FPS do these mods cost or add?
On my PC, Sodium averaged 358 FPS on the same camera flight where vanilla averaged 305 (render distance 16), and Lithium cut the time per tick from 55.9 to 30.8 ms with 512 villagers and 256 cows in one pen. Entity Culling held 120 FPS where vanilla dropped to 48 with 1,024 villagers hidden inside a mountain, and Distant Horizons at 256 chunks stayed between 110 and 120; those two clips were recorded with a 120 FPS driver limit, so 120 was the ceiling. Shaders plus Distant Horizons ran at around 56. The full FPS comparison for 26.3, with nine performance mods on the same PC, is in I tested every popular FPS mod for Minecraft 26.3.
