Round Trees does exactly what the name says: the square trunks of Minecraft’s trees turn round. It is a plain resource pack, so it works in vanilla Minecraft 26.3 without mods or OptiFine. In my video on the best resource packs for 26.3 it is number 4.

What Round Trees changes

Tree trunks: logs get a round model instead of a square block, so a forest stops looking like a field of pillars. In my test row of oak, birch, spruce and dark oak, every trunk turned round.
Same textures: the bark stays the vanilla bark, so the pack fits any look. Its author also makes a separate companion pack, Motschen’s Better Leaves, for the tree tops.

Keep it at the top

Its author recommends putting Round Trees on top of your resource pack list. Packs higher up win when two packs change the same block, so this keeps the round models in place even if you also use a full texture pack. If you use Fast Better Grass too, keep both near the top: they change different blocks and don’t get in each other’s way.

Round Trees for Minecraft 26.3

The current release is version 8.4 from September 18, 2026, for Minecraft 1.20 up to 26.3. Round Trees has over 4 million downloads on Modrinth. It is made by Motschen and released under the MIT license; I still link only the official page.

How to install a resource pack

Download the zip from the official Modrinth page. Don’t unpack it.
In Minecraft, open Options, then Resource Packs, and click Open Pack Folder.
Drop the zip into that folder.
Back in the game, move the pack to the right (Selected) and put it on top of the list.
